We delighted to announce that the St. Francis Cancer Support Centre, cancer patient self-support group and everyone affected by cancer wish to invite you all to participate in the fourth “Hope Run” on 22 May 2011 at 14:00.
The first “Fun Run” was held on 11 May 2008 in Klaipeda. The aim of the run was to introduce Klaipeda people and guests to the St. Francis Cancer Support Centre and to start fundraising for the construction of the project. There were more than 2500 people participating in the run. The entire city was filled with a warm feeling of celebration and unity.
We hope, that this Fun Run will become not only a day of blessing for Klaipeda, but also a day of solidarity, unity and wellness for all the people in the area.

The Fun Run is turning words of help into meaningful action. Let’s help our neighbour to turn suffering into victory. It is so human. Life is worthwhile just because of that.
The participants of the Hope Run will be able to choose from four mini runs. Everyone can participate, not only marathon stars. Cancer patients will run too, those who will not be able to run can walk 3,3 km and disabled people will complete 300 meters. We will have supporters from all over Lithuania and several from the UK, who believe in the idea of cancer support centre and wish express their support for those suffering from cancer
The Fun Run: starting line for 10 km is at the shopping centre BIG, 6,6 km is by the shopping centre Akropolis, 3,3 km starts in Atgimimo square, 300 meters at Studlendas shopping centre. Finish line at the Vasaros Estrada, outdoor arena.
A charity concert organised by the Klaipeda region administration will be held between 14:00 and 16:00
We plan to organize this run continuously every year.

1. The main organiser of the project: Brother Benediktas Jurcys, the guardian of the Franciscan monastery in Kretinga, Aldona Kerpyte, St. Francis Cancer Support Centre director and Dalia Bielskyte, the chair of the self support group of cancer patients.

3. Implementers: Klaipeda city municipality sports department, Klaipeda city sports and recreation centre, the runners club “Maratonas”
